I love these two photographs, and what they represent, from yesterday.......
We enjoyed Christmas dinner with our pastor's family and friends last evening, followed by a merry time of chatting and games. Steve especially enjoyed the lamb meat that was served. And I, well...................I especially enjoyed the home-made place-cards by Miss Claire, who obviously learned how to spell "merry" correctly between last week and last night. But the lamb was tasty, Susan. Honestly, it was. I just couldn't get past the fact that it was a baaa-baaa..........But the twice-baked potatoes and the sweet-potato casserole were heavenly and I'm sure I will be working them off until next Christmas.
I had caught a glimpse of a photo of some gift tags that Claire had made for some gifts for the homeless....and she wrote "meery Christmas". I was half hoping that last night's place-card would wish me a "meery Christmas". ;-) It made me merry just thinking about it, and I am sure that the recipients of her gifts last week couldn't help but smile as they opened their box.
My sweet friend Katie sent these adorable shoes for Graeme. Our G-baby was given so many sweet, precious things from friends and family this Christmas. I'm sure I will be sharing pictures of those things soon. Oh, and by the way, the plan was for Graeme to be photographed in the stocking, but all of his 13 lbs. just didnt. quite. fit.
I trust that each of you had a special day with family, friends, or both! Please know that I understand that the best part of Christmas is not the sweet and cute home-made place-cards or the special gifts that we receive. But I am grateful for the many sweetnesses of Christmas and for the special memories that they incur. I want to celebrate Jesus every day of the year. I want to be thankful for God's gift of His only Son every day of the year. I want Graeme to know that it is a good thing to relish the sweetness of life--to appreciate family, friends, laughter, gifts, good food, etc. Knowing that God is the giver of such things and if He gives us those things for our happiness, how much more He loves us to have given us His only Son, Jesus.
Merry Christmas, dear friends and family,
