borrowed sugar

I am so glad that my husband encouraged me to go meet our next-door neighbors last night.
I was very reluctant....
I was in my pajamas
and my shirt was graced with Graeme's latest spit-up.
But I threw on my coat
and carried Graeme with me........
[because who could resist him?]
and knocked on their door.
And I am so. happy. that I did!
They were lovely.
We look forward to getting to know them better.
And, the cookies tasted wonderful,
thanks to whole wheat flour
and a cup of borrowed sugar;-)

*And, I'm totally willing to give you the recipe for these. They were splendid!

"WOW Chocolate Chip Cookies"
1/2 cup Margarine [non-hydrogenated]
*although I used hydrogenated b/c that was all I had in my fridge and they turned out fine
1/3 cup oil
1-1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup milk [soy, rice, cow]
2 tsp vanilla
2-1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
1-1/4 cups regular rolled oats
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup chopped walnuts [I skipped these;-)]
1/2 cup choc. chips

And, can I just say.....
I ate probably way too much of the dough,
because it didn't have egg in it and it was completely delicious!
Enjoy!

  1. THANK YOU! :) I am just out of oats, so will have to wait for my coming grocery trip, but I definitely can't wait to try. I am very excited that they have wheat flour & oats, but this COULD be a very bad thing when I start justifying eating one more...and more...and more... :)

  2. Kelly--I forgot to mention....
chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking them! ;-)
