our first Oregon Christmas tree tale.......

DSC_0246
On Friday, we trekked out into the wild, wild west and chopped down our very own Christmas tree in the bitter rain, wind and mud. Did I say mud?

Okay, in all seriousness, it was not that bad. It was actually quite festive and fun and, well, very Oregonian feeling;-) I loved their fresh wreaths.......

here is my handsome husband with our find.........

a very enthusiastic on-looker--or something like that;-)

do you see those boots? Yes, I sure wished that I had had some. I wore my orange suede, ballet shoes, which I promptly regretted with my first step out of the car. Thankfully, a little tractor came along after we had taken all of ten steps, and we enthusiastically climbed aboard. A man on the train took one look at my shoes and said, "yep, those are pretty much ruined." Oh, thanks. tons.

It was really a treasure to meet this man, the owner of Helvetia Lavender and Tree Farm. I quickly learned that he was a lover of Jesus, the Gospel, and the people of Ukraine, and that he was an Oregonian to the core. He kindly posed for a picture with mister G.

and this has pretty much been Graeme's reaction to the Christmas tree:
just another fine spot to sit with his blanket and thumb;-)

here's to many more years of ruined orange suede shoes..............
( happy monday! )

  4. How fun, Sarah! So glad you guys got to cut your own tree. Some of our favorite memories are from cutting our Christmas trees. Twice we even cut a tree in GA with my fam and drove it back to both VA and KY! And I'm pretty sure Mr. Graeme keeps getting cuter and cuter.

  5. Looks like a blast! Love those fresh wreaths. Makes me want one for my front door! Roderick and I have never had a fresh tree, but we've thought about it a lot. = ) Love the pictures and your way with words. (As always!!)

  6. Am I really going to be the first to comment on Graeme reminding me of Charlie Brown Christmas with his blanket? :)

Jack has the same brown vest. It's absolutely the perfect coat for our weather here. Cute too!

Looks like you had a fun adventure. Very sadly we are on year #2 with a fake tree. We leave the 20th so we wanted to save the # AND more importantly we have a little girl who puts everything in her mouth so I'm going to avoid pine needles one more year. I bought Evergreen candles from Bath and Body Works in hopes of getting somewhat of a tree smell going. :)

  7. thanks, friends! Melody--I think it will be a yearly tradition. Plus boots next year;-)

Ginny--yes, he loves his blanket;-) I understand about the fake tree/out of town thing. We would certainly do that too if we were going to be out of town. I love those candles from Bath and Body works!
