On celebrating the boys' half birthdays!

A couple of months ago, my husband said to me, "let's celebrate the boys' half birthdays". It was a simple suggestion but such a thoughtful one. And then the calendar seemed to literally sweep right by Graeme-bear's half birthday. With Jobie's half birthday being the twentieth of April, we decided to find a date somewhere in the middle and celebrate both. I'm so glad we did. It's amazing how much joy $3.86 in balloons can bring to two little boys. They were delightful to watch! The weather outside was rainy and cold, but there was no gloom to be had inside, apart from some teething grumpies here and there and possibly a few frowns from mama about the sad state of lighting, hence the onslaught of black and white photos! 'When in doubt, go black and white!'-- that was my motto this weekend, anywho. And, yes I do realize those are pink balloons. They were so supposed to be brownish. We promptly took the boys outside to play in some dirt afterwards. (smile)

// our three-and-a-half year old and his chocolately smile! // endless fun of tossing balloons // their connection is so strong and I love this picture beyond words  // our Jobie to a t. // king for a day! golden crown source here // oh that little smile gets us every time // jump, throw, and repeat! // first glimpse // brownies and homemade cream with strawberries and crushed almonds for our three-and-a-half year old // I found my husband's full cup of coffee around noon. This pictures speaks volumes to me. My husband loves his coffee but many times this is exactly how I find his cup each weekend. Full. He'd rather spend time with his little guys. I love you Stephen! // Jobie boy // the brownie hit the spot! // on his way to turning four! //

Wishing you a wonderful week. Oh, and Amber Cavender!, you are the winner of the Sally Lloyd-Jones books from Zondervan! Send your address to my inbox, sarahkatebranine [@] gmail [.] com, and I'll pass it on to Zondervan! So happy for you!

    1. Amanda,
Thank you so much. I was just telling my sister Barb yesterday how even your packaging was wonderful. I knew the minute I saw your box that I had come across a winner of an Etsy shop : ) Love the little crown so much and looking forward to using it in some future newborn/children portraits!

    1. Maggy,
I have to tell you, this home, that we are renting, has ruined me forever, wink wink. I just told my husband the other day, as we were talking about a most-likely upcoming move, "I can't move into a home unless it has light like this one does". And I was dead serious! The light that our home now has is unbelievable. It must be all of the windows and the position of the house-- whatever it is, I am so thankful for it! : ) The light of the gospel is just as beautiful-- totally know what you meant : ) I need it so much every day, that is for sure!

  5. What a WONDERFUL tradition you've started! So delightful.

And, I LOVE your...thing. Your new icon, logo, whatcha call it?
I cannot stop looking at it! (your baby?)
I have always loved (LOVED) your logos: the nest, the wreath, and now this.
I'm really liking this one. You'll have to enlighten me at some point with the idea and feeling behind changing that. I have the feeling that a logo is set in stone. But you're totally bending the rules here...and it works! And I tend to lean toward the spontaneous in nature. :)

    1. Erin! Friend, I was thinking of you yesterday and I should've just sent a text. Hoping you are having a good week there in the snowy part of the US : )

Yes, I don't know what to call it either. I'm so glad you like it. It was a late evening date with PicMonkey : ) I think I was just plain ready for a change. Wanted something flowery and pretty but different from the wreath. You're right-- I'm totally bending the branding rules. Hoping nobody holds me to it, ha! : ) I think I need to hear the latest on your all's end, speaking of creativity!

    1. Sara! Serious? I so hope we get to see you all! I was hoping, hoping, hoping! You're nice about my pictures. I was just telling Steve last night-- I'm always so excited when I'm taking pictures, thinking that I've captured something great and then I try to put them in a blog post and they all seem terrible. I mean, most of them are of my boys, so they can't be terrible-- but you know what I mean : )
