Sharing our celebration with you | Steve's last day of FedEx!

On Friday, the boys and I were there to meet my husband as he came out the doors of Federal Express for the very last time as their employee. I really wanted to capture that moment, and our little celebrations that followed, on video. And, as you'll see below, I did. A warning, though-- if you like riding roller coasters, this video is for you. Needless to say, videographer I am not. However, despite the topsy turviness, I will admit that I cried a happy cry while making this video. Because, making this video means that God has answered a deeply rooted desire in our hearts. It means that the last four years haven't always been easy. They've been full of good things, hard things –– all necessary. It means that God is always good, that he always is working in our lives for our very best, and that God's goodness is not measured by the difficulties we face. And it means that we believe all of that with all of our hearts. Soli deo gloria.

    1. Sara,
I will very much look forward to any videos that you make! This one was made with my 35mm lens. I'm really excited about trying one with my 50mm. I wish I would've had more time to put into this one, but I'm glad that I caught the moments that I did! Thanks for being so excited with us! Love you guys.

    1. Danielle,
I *know*! My boys are really growing like weeds. I keep saying it, but it's really true!

We are moving (in just a couple of days!) to Pleasant Hill, Oregon and Steve will be pastoring a church there. I can't even tell you how mind-blowing this process has been. I really need to write it all out sometime soon so that I don't forget all that God has done. I did manage to write a post about some of the details a couple of weeks back--it was titled "Granted" in case you want to read it-- but there's so much more that I need to write down!

    1. Rachel,
I am still so incredibly thankful for the time (even though it was way too short!) we had together in SC. Boy, do we have so much in common to thank God for! You are such a huge encouragement to me. Thank you for your love to us through your comment!

  13. Those are the beautiful moments...how is it something so simple could be so big, hold so much emotion for us. I remember the day we left Texas. I had tried so hard to belong there, to fit in, to put roots down but failed. It was a very, very long 11 years. The day I got in the drivers seat of my car, my babies buckled in the back and I left...I drove without looking back. I was overwhelmed with emotion. I can feel that in you, in your video. Beautiful. And YAAAAAAAAAA for your family!!!!!!

    1. Oh, goodness. How is it that we've never met but we understand so much about each other's lives? You are right, that last day was so simple, but so big for us-- for my husband mostly, but for me too. There's something so incredibly full and wonderful about seeing your husband overwhelmed with happiness, even when he is normally a very happy guy anyway!

And, you're very right. The last couple of years have been difficult. Although, I know that some of that has just been the adjustment to becoming a mama. Big life changes and I didn't see it coming right away. I am so thankful for the gals that I have here. I would have been lost without them and the ladies' bible study that I attended regularly! God is always good.

p.s. How could I also not say thank you for the dozens of women I've met and been encouraged by through this blog?! You! Thank *you*!!!
