Graeme and Job's shared-space room + A giveaway with The Land of Nod!

Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify. | Henry David Thoreau
When it comes to making our house our home, I've learned that simplicity truly is a wonderful thing. The best, in fact. And when that simplicity is paired with things you love, well, now that's a beautiful thing to me. Today, I'm sharing photographs of my boys' shared-space room, a room that, as I photographed it, encouraged me to keep pursuing simplicity and well loved items for our home.

I want to introduce you to The Land of Nod, if you aren't already familiar with them. They are owned by the same parent company as that of Crate & Barrel and CB2. Their products have an originality to them and, as a company, they seek to collaborate with independent designers and artisans, which makes my Etsy shop owner's heart smile.

But, specifically, I want to talk to you about one of their rugs. They call it the Gold Bars rug, and let me tell you, it's worth its weight in gold, that is for sure. It's 100% wool, thick, and has a velvety texture. And, my husband would tell you that it's the nicest rug he's ever seen. (I love him.)

My husband isn't the only one who is in love with the rug; we all love it. (Even Cal-girl sneaks down to nap on it when we aren't looking.) It perfectly completes our boys' room. By the way, our boys love sharing a room and we love that they are right around the corner from us. Our rooms are in our daylight basement, and, as you can see from the picture above, our room gets a fair amount more light than theirs does. What we all get, however, is a beautiful view of the pond and pine trees, right out our windows.

I believe that The Land of Nod is a wonderful company full of quality products. (One of our favorite purchases from them is Graeme's (now Job's!) fox backpack, shown in this post.) But don't take it from me, I'd love for you to find out for yourself. Enter the giveaway below, thanks to the very kind people at The Land of Nod, for an opportunity to win a $150 gift card to The Land of Nod!

Land of Nod provided the Gold Bars rug for reviewal and all of the nice words that were written about it and their company are true, my opinions, given at my own free will.

Source List- baskets and bed frame, thrifted // stuffed elephant, Treehouse Kid and Craft // cream + mustard throw, crocheted by Granna // dressers, thrifted, then painted the drawer pulls with Behr's Old Monterrey and sanded them down // cotton basket, Target // wooden letter G, JoAnn's // yarn letter J, Cranny // little wooden houses, Knack Studios // large written quote, a song written by Fernando Ortega that I love to sing to my boys, hand lettered by myself (it's crooked and needs to be redone! please don't notice!) // Job's teddy bear, FAO Schwarz // curtains, Ikea

  32. isn't it amazing how less can BE so much more? I definitely missed that memo in our first home, but choosing the right piece (and am I wrong when I say- especially with a rug!?) can make a huge difference. I think in trying to find my taste in our last home, I just kept filling in spaces. Now we have the bare essentials, but I love them all and I have never felt so homey. I thank the rug too...it is also gold. xo. Maggy :)

  39. I came across The Land of Nod some years ago and just fell in love. I would pour over their pages and dream up corners of my boys' someday rooms. I switched my love from PTK to Land of Nod bc I loved the clean feel without the overly "processed" feel. I LOVE that they are keeping the "real" aspect with using small business artisans. I honestly would LOVE that rug. It's so charming. Love the room!!!
